Only a few days into 2021, Starbucks’ announced new additions onto their winter menu. Honey Almondmilk Cold Brew, Earth Cake Pop, Red Velvet loaf, and the Pistachio latte. First on my list to try was the Pistachio latte, and it did not disappoint. I can confidently say this unexpected coffee flavor has stolen my heart. 

The new Starbucks Pistachio Latte has a typical latte base – steamed milk and espresso – with pistachio sauce and a salted brown butter topping.  “features espresso shots paired with pistachio-infused milk, warmed with a cozy hint of orange zest and finished with a sprinkle of salty-sweet pistachio topping,” the company website said. 

The best part of the latte is the brown butter toping. It’s salty, but also sweet.  I was also really impressed that Starbucks actually brought out the pistachio flavor. When Talenti Gelato’s pistachio ice cream first debuted, I was in love with it, and this latte can definitely surpass it in a race. The flavor was nutty, but not too strong. 

This nutty creamy Pistachio latte made me feel as if I was in-front of a fireplace, while snow was falling on my window. It was comforting taste, and I loved it. If you’re not a fan of hot coffee it comes in a Frappuccino form. I would recommend anyone to get it on their next visit to Starbucks, because I’ll definitely be ordering again.
